Sri Skanda's Oracles - Lesson 01: His show of support

By Sri Skanda's Warrior of Light

July 4, 2001

Today I was working very hard at designing the webpages for the Skandagurunatha website. So far the work has totalled six months, for the designing, composing, and editing of webpages and program scripts. I was overwhelmed with how much work there was still left to do. Being the perfectionist that I am, I require that everything, every minute detail be correct and perfect for my Bhagavan Skanda. "Doesn't He derserve the best?" I thought. "Of course. After all He has done for me. He is the epitome of perfection and so, His site must not be of any lesser standards."

It was about 6:30 pm as I became tired after working on the site for four hours. I said to Murugan,"I hope you accept this site as I have invested a lot of time and energy in making it perfect for you. As long as you accept this work, then it will be worth all the effort."

A little while later, I heard a lot of air being blown. I pulled the curtains from my bedroom window and glanced outside. It was very windy and thick dark clouds were hovering over the area my apartment was situated in. Rolls of thunder ensued followed then by lightening. The rains, too, followed pursuit. Hard and heavy rain water fell from the sky. In all my life, I have never witnessed such a heavy downpour. I saw the people running towards the bus shelter. The trees and street signs waved back and forth due to the intensity of the wind. I then went to my balcony to watch the rain two minutes after the heavy down pour started. As I was walking, I thought,"Wow! God is blessing us a lot today. I wonder why?" I have always viewed rain as a blessing from God since it rejuvenates, purifies, and preserves life. When I got to the balcony of my apartment, the rain abruptly stopped and my eyes were treated to the delight of a big, bright and wonderful rainbow!

I immediately repeated Sri Skanda's Mantra.

I then rushed inside to get a camera to take the picture of the rainbow. The two pictures (not shown) are the scans of the pictures I took on July 4, 2001 at 6:30 pm. The rainbow appears a little lighter in contrast, however this was much darker and vivid when I first saw it in the sky. By the time I took the picture the rainbow had began to fade.

Sri Skanda says in Lesson 01:

"Every time you see a rainbow — whether in the sky, on the television, on a car, on a building, anywhere — think on me, Skanda, and say my mantra three times, and I will be there."

And so, I was happy to know that Murugan showed His appreciation and support for all the work invested in developing His website (www.skandagurunatha.org).

Strangely enough, the rainbow only remained for a few minutes. Luckily, I was able to photograph it before it completely disappeared from eye's view. After taking the picture, the rainbow disappeared moments before my parents got home. So, I was the only one who observed it. Another interesting thing was that today was powrnami (full-moon). Normally, I always start studying a new lesson from Skanda's book. This rainbow may have also been a sign from Murugan to help me continue my discipline in faithfully studying and applying His words of wisdom in my life. Renewed with energy and enthusiasm, I went back and worked for some more hours on the website to bring it one step closer to its launch date (sometime near fall and winter of 2001). Aum Saravanabhava!
